The Jazz Invaders, who took the European new jazz scene by storm as the Dutch version of the Five Corners Quintet and saw two of their albums become huge hits here in Japan. Their 2010 release, their first in two and a half years, marks a turning point with a major shift in sound. Building on the sound of the Crusaders from the early pre-fusion era of the 1970s and the CTI sound, it incorporates the sophistication of AOR and smooth jazz, as well as the soul and R&B. This sound is sure to captivate everyone from club jazz listeners tired of “New Jazz” to adults seeking AOR-style, urban jazz, and even fans of Incognito-style smooth jazz funk! "Leave It At That" retains a hint of New Jazz while featuring pleasant male-female harmonies reminiscent of Chic or Mantra; "Why I" is a 16-beat mellow jam that again features male-female harmonies; "Zebra Boogie" is heavily influenced by early fusion; the danceable hyper-Latin track “SambaC,” and the melancholic waltz-fusion “Reverse”—this is dance jazz music that feels both old and new, featuring a sophisticated blend of soulful melodies, smooth beats, a refined urban atmosphere, and mellow, sweet vocals!
