In addition to appearing at “Vagabond Festival,” one of Taiwan’s largest festivals, and have garnered significant attention in Taiwan, including being selected for the “Jury Award of the Year” at the “StreetVoice Awards,” a Taiwanese music awards ceremony. This album, *Turntable in the Lift*, blends indie music with a distinctly Asian sense of melody with sounds from Western genres such as soul, R&B, jazz, and hip-hop. Starting with the opening track “flight,” the mellow guitar sound and soul-infused vocals intertwine perfectly, and the second track, “Back to School,” masterfully showcases guitar-driven indie soul. The third track, “Bakerloo,” features fellow Londoner rapper 53mo and producer Flowstrong as guests. The song is a playful track influenced by hip-hop, with an experimental beat—almost as if breakbeats had been incorporated—that drives a constantly shifting arrangement. From tracks like “Waste My Time”—where the chorus lines intertwine one after another around a jazzy, mellow piano and trumpet—and “Moons,” with its smooth, ear-catching vocal melody, to the grand jazz tune “TunesforSuly”—it’s safe to say this is the most musically rich album released in Asia in 2025!
