Description:
The fourth album for Black Jazz Records by one of the label's leading artists, Doug Kahn! This was effectively his last release for Black Jazz Records, and it is a masterpiece that deserves to end! This is the fourth album for Black Jazz by Doug Kahn, the most prolific keyboardist in the label's short history, and the last release for Black Jazz Records, which has sadly come to an end. This is also his first album since parting ways with Gene Kern, with whom he had worked on three albums as a partner, and perhaps to ease his loneliness, a total of 11 musicians were assembled, each of whom skillfully showcased their tremendous playing. The producer is, of course, Gene Russell, leader of Black Jazz Records. The album kicks off with "Chant," an epic Latin jazz tune with soulful male and female vocals, followed by "Higher Ground," a jazz-funk dance tune that transports you to a jazz club in the 1970s, and a cover of Earth, Wind & Fire's "Mighty The album is one of the most euphoric in the history of Black Jazz Records, with a succession of delightful, soulful tunes that leave no room for Gene Kern's omissions. It is a great masterpiece that ends the label's story with the happiest of endings, and should forever be considered a milestone in spiritual jazz!
