This is because it perfectly aligns with Professor Kaneda’s conviction—as a composer who has always valued sincerity toward music. (Composer: Rika Nakamoto) With each performance, Tatsuya Shimono and Hiroshima Wind Orchestra have built an ever more unshakable bond of trust and gained increasing maturity. The exquisite music they create moves far—no, hundreds of steps—beyond the universal “wind ensemble” music we’ve grown familiar with through Satoshi Kaneda’s works, which are imbued with his deep affection. Enveloped in a delicate and graceful sound, it draws us into a different dimension unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. Beginning with his signature piece, “Passacaglia,” and featuring a complete recording of “Ballade”—the work into which Satoshi Kaneda likely poured the most of his heart and soul—this program, which concludes with “Symphonic Ondo,” is an irresistible treat for fans. The program from the May 2015 regular concert is captured on a high-quality SACD hybrid disc that generously conveys the live atmosphere of the performance.
