Yumi Aikawa, who was mentored by Ifukube for a quarter of a century and has passed on the true value of his music, has released this DVD book together with a book containing live footage of her own concert series of Ifukube's works and commentary on the works. In addition to Aikawa, the editor of the book, the text is contributed by Toju Katayama, an authority on Ifukube, Akira Ifukube's eldest son, Kyoku Ifukube, and his second daughter, Kanko Abe. The book also includes a wealth of photographs and documents provided by the Ifukube family, making it a must-have labor of love for Ifukube Ifukube fans and researchers. <Yumi Aikawa (vocalist): Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, and completed the master's and doctoral programs at the same university. D. in music at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. Studied voice under Ryosuke Hatanaka and ancient songs and Japanese harp under Shigeru Iwanami. Winner of the 47th Japan Arts Festival Award, she performed in front of the Emperor's return in 1994 and in 1999 at the ceremony commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Emperor's accession to the throne.He has performed, recorded, and appeared on TV throughout the United States, China, and Europe. He is the author of "Kore wa Ika, Nippon no Uta" and "Enka" no Susume (Bunshun Shinsho), and "Aikawa Method" (Kawai Publishing Co., Ltd.), which proposes breathing and singing techniques for beautifully pronouncing the Japanese language.
