Kitao Michifuyu (from the booklet)This is the seventh installment in Aki Takahashi's Schubert series, which began in 2007. This disc features a selection of works, including the masterpiece "Graz Fantasy," which has been gaining recognition in recent years for its charms, and lets the listener hear the depths of the composer's "Songs. <In 1973, she received the 1973 Art Festival Excellence Award for "The World of Aki Takahashi," a collection of 20 contemporary works from Japan and abroad. In 1975, together with Kuniharu Akiyama, he organized the "Erik Satie Concert Series," which became a great opportunity for the "rediscovery of Satie. He has edited 13 volumes of "The Complete Works of Erik Satie for Piano" and released "The Complete Works of Erik Satie for Piano Music".He was invited to the U.S. by Morton Feldman in 1980, and was a visiting professor at the California Institute of the Arts in 1984, and received the first Kenzo Nakajima Award in 1983 and the first Kyoto Music Award for Practical Use in 1986. He has released numerous CDs, including the "Hyper Beatles" series, in which he commissioned leading contemporary composers from around the world to create works based on Beatles' numbers, and completed four CDs. In 2006, his recital of Feldman's works in New York was named one of the best concerts of 2006 by the New York Times. For his performances of the CDs "Schubert: Sonatas for Piano" and "Morton Feldman: Trio," he was awarded the 2007 Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Art Encouragement Prize. His CD "Dangerous Night: Aki Takahashi Plays John Cage" won the Excellence Prize at the 2008 Japan Arts Festival. He received the Medal with Purple Ribbon in the fall of 2011.In 2014, he received the 23rd Asahi Contemporary Music Award. He is the author of "Parlando: My Piano Life" (Shunju-sha). Camerata Tokyo
