The Vienna Nicolai String Quartet, named after Otto Nicolai, the founder of the Vienna Philharmonic—an orchestra with a glorious tradition of chamber music—has been carrying on that tradition since its founding in 2012. With a sense of mission to lead the next generation, the quartet has earned high acclaim for its performances. Composed of colleagues from the Vienna Philharmonic—Wilfried Kazuki (violin), Bernhard Naoki (cello)—the Hedenborg brothers—along with Gerhard Marschner (viola) and Benjamin Morrison (violin), have chosen Beethoven’s complete “Razumovsky” Quartets as their long-awaited debut recording. This marks the striking CD debut of this young, orthodox quartet.
