Description:

Following the 2010 recording of Tchaikovsky and Borodin, this quartet finally recorded the Viennese classics Beethoven and Schubert. The quartet's performances are steeped in Viennese tradition, and the power of that tradition is vividly demonstrated for the modern age. The performance is a compelling performance that stands apart from recent trends and takes the high road. ●The Steide String Quartet Formed in 2002 by members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Steide String Quartet is a string quartet in the tradition of string quartets born from the prestigious Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. With a repertoire of more than 60 operas and numerous symphonic works, ranging from classical to contemporary, the quartet's activities as an orchestra member and chamber musician are busy but wonderfully interdependent. The quartet's repertoire ranges from Classical to Romantic, and includes premieres of 20th century and contemporary works. The quartet's wide-ranging fan base has been enhanced by new encounters and collaborations with a variety of performers, and the quartet is active not only in Austria, but also abroad.
