Márta Mészáros, the first female filmmaker in history to win the top prize at the Berlin International Film Festival. A Blu-ray Collection featuring a total of 12 films—from her feature debut to her iconic “Diary” trilogy—will be released over three consecutive months!
Márta Mészáros won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival for her 1975 film *Adoption: A Record of a Mother and Daughter*. She subsequently received the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival for *Diary for Children*, earning international acclaim as a filmmaker on par with her contemporary Agnès Varda.
In Japan, where her work had long gone largely unrecognized, five of her films—including *Adoption*—were released simultaneously in 2023. Many viewers were astonished by the timeless relevance of her work. In 2025, a special retrospective featuring a total of seven films, including her iconic “Diary” trilogy, was held.
A Blu-ray Collection featuring restored and digitally remastered versions of all 12 films previously introduced in Japan will be released over three consecutive months!
