This is the fifth installment in the recital series presented by Yukihiro Nishimoto—who serves as concertmaster of both the Sendai Philharmonic and the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra—under the theme “VIOLINable: The Potential and Adaptability of the Violin.” Violinist Yukihiro Nishimoto launched the “VIOLINable Discovery” series in 2014, which combines performances of Beethoven’s complete sonatas with a music program supporting recovery efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake. For the fifth installment—a milestone in the series—Nishimoto has chosen a program featuring music from the United Kingdom, where he once studied as a student abroad. In addition to his demanding role as concertmaster of the Sendai Philharmonic, Nishimoto has also served as concertmaster of the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra since last year, further enriching his artistic activities. The seamless musical dialogue throughout the program with pianist Yoshito Kitabata—with whom this marks his first collaboration in the series and who is already scheduled to perform with him in a 2019 recital—is a must-hear.
