Portugal’s Sufian Stevens! We’re now carrying three albums by Bruno Pernadas, a guitarist, keyboardist, and composer whose sound spans jazz, hip-hop, folk, and indie rock. His talent—drawn from diverse musical influences and honed by his jazz training, which enables sophisticated performance, composition, and arrangement skills—is flourishing even at the westernmost tip of Europe. One of the albums released simultaneously in 2016 is *THOSEWHOTHROWOBJECTSATTHECROCODILESWILLBEASKEDTORETRIEVETHEM*. Compared to the simultaneously released *WORSTSUMMEREVER*, this album features a stronger influence from indie rock, hip-hop, Afrobeat, and world music. It also has a nostalgic side, such as the use of the noise produced when tracing a vinyl record as sound effects. Although the band was previously little known in Japan, the simultaneous release of these two albums in 2016 marked the start of their full-scale introduction to the Japanese market.
