For us today, even the only "flesh and blood" instrument in the world of music is, for Bach, a mere symbolic world, an imaginary form...for Bach, the string-repellent instrument is echoed in these four suites. -Masanobu Nishigaki - For the recording, gut strings were used on an 1830 Louis Panormogi guitar. The tuning is a parody of the Bergmeister's tuning, which is closely related to Bach's. The tuning is based on the length of each reduction to achieve the desired tuning. The length of each reduction was changed to realize the tuning, and the irregular curved frets were optimized. The arrangement of Suite No. 2, BWV997, is performed in E minor, which is not heard anywhere else. The commentary written by the composer himself is also a must-read. (C)RS
