Francisco Mora Catlett

Description:

Long-awaited! The long-awaited reissue of "MORA!", a unique pan-Latin spiritual jazz masterpiece by Francisco Mora Catlett, a Mexican-American drummer known as a former member of the San La Arkestra. Francisco Mora was born in Washington, D.C. in 1947 and grew up in Mexico City. He grew up in Mexico City and worked as a session musician for Capitol Records in 1968 before attending Berklee College of Music in 1970. He then became a member of the San La Arkestra and spent much of his time working with them. Mora then moved to Detroit. There, he recorded "MORA!" (1986) with Kenny Cox, known as the founder of Strata East, and bassist Rodney Whitaker, known for his work with Roy Hargrove, and in 2005, "MORA! II," which was released in 2005 under the ambiguous name of "RIVER DRUM. In Mora's own words, this work was intended to "reveal the existence of African heritage in the Americas. The opener "Afra Jum," which symbolizes such a concept, is one of the best spiritual tunes on the album.Embracing yet integrating the broad spectrum of improvisation, rhythm, and jazz that has flourished in the Americas for centuries. The melody is based on Haitian, African, and Native American motifs, and is backed by Afro-Cuban-inspired percussion and the outstanding playing of Detroit veterans and icons Kenny Cox and Rodney Whitaker, who are so much more. It is a wonderful song. Other songs on this album include "Rumba Morena," a colorful interplay of Afro-Cuban rhythms with flutes and steel pans; "Samba de Amor," a samba jazz song reminiscent of Aiato Moreira; "Amazona," a jazz song featuring the vocals of his wife, Teresa Mora; and "Samba Dancer," a samba dance song featuring the vocals of his wife, Teresa Mora. The samba dancer "Amazona," featuring the vocals of his wife, Teresa Mora, and all the other songs are masterpieces. The album's unique content, which integrates not only North America but also Latin America and its ethnic roots in a microcosmic manner on a vast scale, is a unique work of spiritual jazz that is drawing renewed attention as the roots of contemporary Latin jazz, which continues to integrate, multiply, and expand various music/cultures, and as a unique work of spiritual jazz that is drawing renewed attention. It is also a unique work of spiritual jazz that is attracting renewed attention.
