One of the hardest rappers in the current N.Y. underground scene, Long Island lyricist/producer Roc Marciano is a member of the legendary Flipmode Squad, which became the eye of the '90s scene with heavyweight Busta Rhymes, and the UN, a special unit led by Soul Brother Pete Rock. His stubborn style and masculine lyricism and flow have earned him the respect of MCs from all over the world, not only on the East Coast, but also in the East and West. This is his 8th studio album, and while only "Downtown 81," whose music video is an impressive sample of the Tokaido Shinkansen documentary film, was produced by Jake One, the rest of the tracks are almost all his own. The intertwining of the gorgeous and strong guest artists such as Schoolboy Q, Kool Keith, Action Bronson, and Stove God Cook$ is also a must-see.
