Long-awaited first full-length album by Dora Morelenbaum, also known as a member of Barra Desejo. Produced by Ana Frango Eletrico! Dora Morelenbaum was born the daughter of cellist Jaquith Morelenbaum and singer Paula Morelenbaum, who are known for their participation in works by Caetano Veloso and Ryuichi Sakamoto. In 2021, she released her first solo EP, "Vento de Beirada" (2021). Co-produced with Ana Frango Eletrico, Lucas Nunes, and Guillermi Lirio, the EP certainly showed that she was an exceptional singer and songwriter rooted in the Brazilian tradition. The following year, she formed Barra Desejo with Zee Ibarha, Julia Mestri, and Lucas Nunes.Barra Desejo's first album "SIM, SIM, SIM" (2022), dubbed "the second coming of Tropicália," created a sensation not only in Brazil but around the world. While Julia Mestri and Zee Ibarraja, also members of Barra, have released solo albums, Dora has had no album released to date, but in 2024, her long-awaited first solo album "Pique" will finally be released. Co-produced by Ana Frango Eletrico, as in "Vento de Beirada," the album features her father Jaquith Morelenbaum and mother Paula Morelenbaum on the chorus and arrangements. Other guests included Julia Mestri, Zee Ibarha, Lucas Nunes, and other Barra faces, as well as Guillermi Lirio, Ton Veloso, and other splendid guests. Compared to "Vento de Beirada," which was based on slow ballads, "Pique" has a more sparkling sound that mixes disco, MPB, funk, jazz, and soul.The listener can enjoy a wide variety of tastes in songs such as "Venha Comigo," with its inner funk flavor, the mellow "Essa Confusao," with its exceptionally beautiful string arrangement, and the jazz-funk "VW Blue," with its lively electric piano. This shift to a funkier sound probably reflects the aesthetic of Ana Frango Eletrico, who co-produced the album. However, it is somewhat introspective rather than physical, and one can fully enjoy the "enveloping and ethereal mood" that is a major attraction of Dora's music. Ana Frango Eletrico's cutting-edge production and Dora's artistry are fused together. A truly unique masterpiece representing contemporary MPB has been born.
