The complete duo work "Catharsis" by Shin Sasakubo and Gabriel Bruce, one of the leading Brazilian drummers of our time, is now available on CD for the first time! This is a stoic yet emotional work by the two linked by their unique climate of Minas and Chichibu, a mining town without a sea. The process by which Shin Sasakubo and Gabriel Bruce created this album began with a drum track that Bruce freely strummed in a brand new state, to which Sasakubo's guitar was added. There is no session-like interaction here. There is no session-like interaction here, just a guitar that faces the beat and responds to it. This stance is exactly that of beat music or techno music. The music is lyrical and ascetic beyond compare, like the soundscapes of two mining towns, Chichibu and Minas. (Masaaki Hara, rings producer) ** Nobu** Sasakubo Born in Chichibu. He has been researching and performing Andean music in Peru from 2004 to 2008. Performed in South America and Europe as a guitarist playing both contemporary and Andean music, and in the 2010s developed the art collective "Chichibu Avant-garde School".He has independently researched Chichibu and created works of music, film, photography, and contemporary art. His works have been shown at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Setouchi International Art Festival, Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival, and Ichihara Lakeside Art Museum, among others. He has given special lectures at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Waseda University, Tama Art University, Ritsumeikan University, Rikkyo University, Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Wako University, Aoyama Women's Junior College, and others.
