Formed in 2009 in Calgary, a major city in Western Canada. Initially known for their grind/hardcore style sound, similar to neo-clash, the band played shows and toured extensively throughout North America. After three splits and two albums, the band approached metal with their third release, "Sowing the Seeds of a Worthless Tomorrow" (2016), and established their current style of brackened death metal with the follow-up, "Misery Rites" (2018). Their last album, "Devouring Ruin" (2020), was highly acclaimed by Decibel Magazine as one of the best albums of the year. The sound style is updated with each album. The band has focused on increasing the dramatic and profound nature of their sound, not to mention refining their metallic riffs. This album is the result of a reexamination of the keywords "extreme," "brutal," and "crushing," and a reexamination of the question, "What constitutes extreme, not just relying on blast beats? The result is a work that once again pushes the boundaries of what constitutes extreme music. (C)RS
