A collection of jazz-bossa canonical "Coisas" covers by Moacir Santos, left by the Afro-Brazilian large ensemble "Orquestra Humpiles" led by master Rechieres Reichi! Also features guest Caetano Veloso. Born in Bahia state in northeastern Brazil, composer/arranger/saxophonist Reciélès Reichi is a member of the Afro-Brazilian Orchestre Huampiélez. He has made a great impact on the Brazilian music scene since the late 2000s with his Afro-Brazilian orchestra, Humpires, and has also worked as an arranger for major artists such as Caetano Veloso and Maria Betânia. He also nurtured many up-and-coming musicians, such as Lourenço Hebbetschs, and was adored as a "maestro" until his death in 2021. This is the last album he recorded with Orquestra Humpiles, which he had positioned as his life's work. We kept the melody, we kept the aesthetics of the music and made it a new piece, but it is as if we brought Moacir to Salvador and took him for a walk in our form. Because our culture is so varied. Here we have at least three schools of candomblé with different roots, each developing a magnificent rhythmic collaboration. So I observed and reread the melody once again.That's how I deepened it." For Recieres, the Moacir songbook was a project he had wanted to work on for years. The up-and-coming production company ROCINANTE made it happen, and the fact that their studio had a table for analog recording on 2-inch tape was a deciding factor. Compared to Orquestra Afrosymphonica, another Afro-Brazilian big band that made headlines last year, the music of the Humpires, composed of brass and percussion instruments, is more rugged, but the result is the ideal sound of Retieres, powerful yet supple, elegant yet The result is a powerful yet supple, elegant yet somewhat exotic aura of "Coisas" that has been successfully interpreted in a modern way. The result is a new masterpiece that will be heard for decades to come.
