Hiromi Uehara is a world-class pianist. The animated film "BLUE GIANT," for which he served as music director, won the "Best Music Award" at the 47th Japan Academy Prize. Her second album, a year and a half since her last "Sonicwonderland," opens with a Sonicwonder version of "XYZ," the song that opened her shocking 2003 debut "Another Mind," followed by a diverse lineup of new songs. The lineup of new songs included "Yes! a song about a longtime love of ramen noodles; "OUT THERE," a suite of four songs; "Balloon Pop," which is as pop as its title suggests; and "Pendulum," featuring singer/songwriter Michelle Willis, in two versions, one with vocals and the other as a solo piano player. The flexible and bouncy sound proves that the band's chemistry has reached an even higher level after touring the world. (C)RS
