The Blue Note Quintet, formed to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Blue Note, the most powerful jazz label in history, releases its first studio recording under the name "Out of/Into". To celebrate Blue Note's 85th anniversary earlier this year, the quintet brought together Immanuel Wilkins (as), Joel Ross (vib, marimba), Gerald Clayton (p), Matt Brewer (b), and Kendrick Scott (ds), all of whom represent the label and the contemporary jazz scene. The group will tour the U.S. for about three months. They toured the U.S. for about three months, and received a great response. This album was recorded in the middle of the tour, and is the embodiment of the Blue Note sound that has always been at the forefront of the times. All of the tracks were newly written by the band members for this album.
