This set documents Miller's creative journey leading up to "Joker," the Steve Miller Band's eighth studio album, and includes 27 tracks of previously unreleased material (including eight previously unreleased songs and commentary from Miller himself). Steve Miller will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of his platinum disc-certified studio album "Joker" (his eighth album in total) with a new box set, J50: Evolution of the Joker. The set documents the artistic journey that led to the album "The Joker". Along the way, Miller expanded and reimagined his world of work, eventually discovering a surprisingly original new sound. This led to an unprecedented expansion of his fan base and even greater success. J50, supervised by Miller himself, takes an in-depth look at the creative process that shaped the music of The Joker.The 2CD set includes 27 previously unreleased recordings from Miller's personal archive and original album tracks, arranged chronologically to clearly highlight the magical sound that will never disappear. The previously unreleased material includes early demo tapes, live performances, studio outtakes, and rehearsals recorded in Miller's hotel room on tour with a TEAC 4-track recorder. Also included are six tracks of audio commentary by Miller himself. Includes lengthy liner notes written by Miller and renowned journalist Anthony DiCurtis. Includes a complete translation of the English liner notes and bilingual lyrics.
