The second album created from the great legacy of the original King Crimson, which collapsed after the Fillmore West concert in December 1969, featuring Robert Fripp and Pete Sinfield, who remained with the band after the original Crimson's legacy collapsed, along with support from old members, Keith Tippett and Gordon Haskell. The album was produced by Robert Fripp and Pete Sinfield, who remained with the band after the original Crimson's demise, with support from former members Keith Tippett and Gordon Haskell. The band features original member Michael Giles on drums, bassist Peter Giles of Giles, Giles & Fripp before they developed into Crimson, instrumentalists led by Fripp and Tippett, original member Greg Lake, and vocalist Gordon Haskell, a new addition to the band. The album was produced with a transitional lineup featuring vocals by new member Gordon Haskell, but it also includes "Scenes from a Cold City," which has become a standard live performance since 2014; the fantastic ballad "Cadence and Cascades;" the epic "Poseidon's Wake," which continues the world of "The Crimson King's Palace;" and "Cat Food," with Tippett on piano, which is a memorable song from the original album.
