The 100th anniversary of Charlie Parker's birth! This 2-CD set of rare recordings of Charlie Parker, one of the creators of modern jazz, made during his stay in LA, including many previously unreleased recordings, is now available on UHQCD in Japan! This is a collection of previously unreleased and rare recordings made during three of his tours. The album also includes performances of "How High the Moon" and "Theme on 52nd Street" with Dizzy Gillespie at the legendary Billy Burgess Jazz Club in Hollywood in 1945, and three previously unknown songs from the "Jazz at the Philharmonic" concert held at the Shrine Auditorium in 1948. The recording also includes three previously unknown performances. Also of note is the complete recording of the infamous "Naked Party" held in July 1952 at a ranch in Altadena by artist Gileya Zosian. Recording engineer Doug Benson has restored these recordings as faithfully as possible.The booklet includes an extensive essay by producer John Burton on the circumstances surrounding these recordings (translated on the Japanese edition) and rarely seen photographs of Byrd's trip to Los Angeles. Outside of Japan, this is a Record Store Day product, released exclusively in RSD stores. The art used on the cover is "Orchestra" by Gileya Zosian 1952.
