Description:
A tribute to Paris, the city of art. Hilary Hahn returns to Deutsche Grammophon with her long-awaited new album. The Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France is a family orchestra that Hilary Hahn has played with in Paris for many years. Composed in 1916-17 and premiered in Paris in 1923, Prokofiev's Concerto No. 1 is Hilary Hahn's Hilary Hahn's favorite concerto. It is one of the works she has performed most often, and she has been waiting for the right collaborator and the right moment to record it. The first performance of the mysterious and meditative "Poem" by Chausson, a Paris native, was given by Ysaÿe in Paris. The piece was dedicated to Isay and is Chausson's masterpiece. Hilary Hahn's teacher, Yascha Brodsky, was Isay's last student, and she cannot help but feel a personal connection to this work as her own musical roots. The first collaboration with Finnish composer Rautavaara, who died in 2016, was when they commissioned and performed the piece "Whispers" on the 2013 album "27 Pieces - Hilary Hahn Encores". Mikko Frank was also a close friend of Rautavaara's and an excellent performer who understood his work, and after performing Rautavaara's violin concerto in 2014, the two decided to commission a new concerto to premiere in Paris, but Rautavaara's health was not good and his work was changed to a serenade. After the composer's death, the "Two Serenades" were discovered with the orchestration halfway through the second piece and the piano sketches remaining, and the famous composer Kalevi Aho, a student of Rautavaara, completed the orchestration, giving the world premiere in February 2019, and this world premiere recording was made. was made.
