Charles Lloyd, who celebrated the 80th anniversary of his birth with a commemorative release in February 2020, now releases his latest work as Charles Lloyd & the Marvels. The album is an extension of the Tone Poet Series, released in 2019 to commemorate Blue Note's 80th anniversary, and mastered by Joe Hurley. The Tone Poet Series is a series launched to commemorate Blue Note's 80th anniversary and is a project to master the original tapes for analog vinyl release under the direction of Joe Hurley, who is also the mastermind behind the highly acclaimed Blue Note classic albums. The project received a great response worldwide and was originally planned to be a "Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series" featuring 18 titles, but the popularity of the series has grown to include "Blue Note Debuts," "Blue Note Grooves," "Great Reid Miles," "Blue Note Miles," "Blue Note Grooves," "Great Reid Miles," "Blue Note Miles," and "Blue Note Miles. Covers, Blue Note Drummer Leaders, and Blue Note Live.For the first time, Charles Lloyd will be releasing a new album under the Tone Poet moniker, outside of his catalog work. Charles Lloyd and Joe Hurley have a close friendship, and it was Lloyd who gave the group the nickname "Tone Poet. Featuring nine dynamic instrumental tracks, the album will include works by Ornette Coleman, Thelonious Monk, Leonard Cohen, and Gabor Szabo, as well as a new song by Lloyd. *This product will be available for sale on Friday, so products will be delivered on or after the day of release.
