This 4-disc set compiles Mozart recordings for DECCA, excluding concertos conducted by Britten. It marks the first-ever release in Japan of five pieces, including the previously unreleased Symphony No. 40 performed with the London Symphony Orchestra at Kingsway Hall in 1963! Classic albums and legendary recordings have been restored using the latest technology. Includes bonus tracks. The content equivalent to three original albums has been newly remastered from the original analog master tapes in the UK Benjamin Britten (1913–76), while showing an interest in contemporary composers as a conductor, was highly acclaimed for his interpretations of Bach and, in particular, Mozart, leaving behind a legacy of masterful recordings on DECCA, including Piano Concertos No. 20 and No. 27 with Curzon. This 4-disc set includes three albums featuring original studio recordings of Mozart’s works that Britten left behind for DECCA, as well as a 1962 live recording from the BBC (in mono) featuring songs with his close friend Peter Pears as soloist, a 1966 live performance of “Jupiter” at Bryceberg Church (all of which were first released in 2000), and a set of five pieces—including Symphony No. 40 with the London Symphony Orchestra, recorded in 1963 at Kingsway Hall but previously unreleased (first released in the 2013 imported complete works box set—a rare recording now available for the first time in Japan! The sound quality is exceptional) into a single set. Furthermore, as a special bonus, we’ve included “The Unfinished,” which was originally paired with Symphony No. 38, in this latest reissue. (1/2)
