The fourth in the series of Beethoven symphonies by the Seiji Ozawa Mito Chamber Orchestra.The 100th Anniversary Subscription Concert of the Mito Chamber Orchestra held on October 13 & 15, 2017, with the first two movements conducted by a different conductor and the second two movements by Seiji Ozawa, but the first two movements were conducted by Seiji Ozawa separately from the concert session The first two movements were recorded separately from the concert. This was Seiji Ozawa's first recording of the 9th in 15 years, since his smash hit 2002 recording with the Saito Kinen Orchestra. The tight performance by the elite Mito Chamber Orchestra, a small group of world-class musicians, the overwhelming chorus of the Tokyo Opera Singers, and the wonderful singing of the soloists are all beautifully combined in this moving performance under the baton of Seiji Ozawa.
