The 10th anniversary of Masaaki Kikuchi's death. The second volume of "Hanamichi", his last solo studio recording, is now available! ☆Imported vinyl version with Japanese commentary! Former ECM producer Sang Chung completed his last studio recording with Masaaki Kikuchi, with whom he had built a trusting relationship over the years. Volume 2, a sequel to "Hanamichi" released in 2021 on Red Hook Records, which Sun Chung presided over, is now available as a tribute to Masaaki Kikuchi on the 10th anniversary of his death! The last solo session of Masaaki Kikuchi was recorded in December 2013 at Klavierhaus Concert Hall in New York City. This second volume contains seven additional tracks that were recorded at the same session as the first volume but were not recorded. In the first volume, there was only one improvisation, which Masaaki Kikuchi was devoted to in his later years, but in this volume, three improvisations can be heard.The standard numbers placed between the improvisations include "Carnival Morning," "Alone Together," "My Beloved Porgy," and "My Ship," a group of works closely tied to his formative years as a music student in Tokyo in the late 1950s. Recorded just two years before Masaaki Kikuchi's death, these sessions capture a time when he was at his most introspective and emotional.
