The 18th International Chopin Piano Competition, held in October 2021, was postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, it attracted exceptionally talented musicians from around the world and generated unprecedented excitement, thanks to the outstanding performances of Japanese contestants and the event’s global online broadcast. The third installment of the competition’s live recording series (Blue Series), released on the independent label of the competition’s organizer, the National Chopin Institute (NIFC), features Eva Gevorgian (Gevorgyan)—the Russian-Armenian prodigy who advanced to the finals with a commanding performance! The 2021 Chopin Competition brought together a diverse array of talent from around the world, and the “17-year-old trio” of JJ Jun Li Bui, Eva Gevorgian, and Hao Lao, who all reached the finals, was one of the key factors contributing to the competition’s success. Among them, Eva Gevorgian captivated audiences with her mature, profound expression and keen sensitivity, as well as her consistently solid technique from the first round through the finals, thrilling both the venue and listeners around the world. Born in 2004, she has won awards in over 40 international competitions, including second place at the Kliber Junior Competition, first place at the Cleveland Junior Competition, first place at the Robert Schumann Competition in Düsseldorf, and first place at the Young Chopin Competition (Jeune Chopin) in Switzerland.
