NIFC's LP series begins! Rubinstein's last concert in his homeland! NIFC (Chopin Institute/Narodowy Instytut Fryderyka Chopina) in Poland will finally start LP series! The first two titles will be released! The first release of the series will be Maurizio Pollini's Chopin Competition Live (NIFCLP003) and the last concert in Poland by Artur Rubinstein (1887-1982), one of the most famous pianists in Poland and in the 20th century. concert in Poland! Born into a Jewish family in Lodz, a city in central Poland, Rubinstein retired in 1976 due to deteriorating eyesight caused by mosquitosis after a career that spanned 80 years,He was performing his "last" concert in Poland with the Lodz Philharmonic Orchestra (now the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic Orchestra). Invited as a soloist to the Lodz Philharmonic Orchestra's 60th anniversary concert, Rubinstein performed Chopin's "Piano Concerto No. 2" and Beethoven's "Emperor. The concert was a monumental occasion for Rubinstein, who in the final years of his career, brought glory to his hometown and once again demonstrated his greatness to Poland and abroad. With the permission of his family, Eva, Alina, and John, this recording was released on CD in 2024 (XNIFCCD155156/NIFCCD155156) to great acclaim. The Lodz Philharmonic Orchestra (now the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic), Rubinstein's last orchestra in Poland, celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2015 and is the second permanent orchestra in Poland after the Warsaw Philharmonic. The orchestra is also the second permanent orchestra in the country after the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra.Rubinstein's hometown of Lodz is also known for its role as the de facto capital of Warsaw when the city was devastated in World War II, until 1948, when reconstruction of Warsaw began.
