Brahms Violin Concerto with Enescu's cadenza, a rarity among the many cadenzas available! Born in London in 1986, the young violinist Charlie Siem began playing the violin at the age of three and studied at the Royal College of Music in London with Itzhak Raszkowski from 1998 to 2004 and with Shlomo Mintz from 2004. He has performed with major orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and has worked with such greats as Charles Dutoit, Edward Gardner, Zubin Mehta, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Roger Norrington, and many others. has released two duo albums with pianist Itamar Golan and an album of Beethoven's violin concertos with Oleg Caetani and the Philharmonia Orchestra, both to critical acclaim. Once again, the Philharmonia Orchestra will perform Brahms's Violin Concerto. Since Brahms himself did not write the cadenza for the first movement, the most frequently performed cadenza is the one by Joachim, the first performer. The cadenzas are well known for their variety. Among them, Seam has chosen an unusual cadenza by Georges Enescu, who was also a favorite of Menuhin. The score was written by Enescu for Oistrakh in Moscow in May 1946 and transcribed in 2021 by Anna-Alexandra von Bülow, a musicologist and journalist, and Frank Haeckel, a composer and conductor.
