Fami Arcay, who has created a whirlwind in the world of ancient music, newly releases a new album, "Spain On Fire," which focuses on improvisation and ornamentation of famous melodies of the Spanish Baroque according to the styles and conventions of the 17th century. The rise and rise of the Spanish empire in the 16th and 17th centuries spread Spain's rich culture and diversity far and wide, bringing with it a musical tradition that was a mixture of Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and American influences that transformed cultural and musical trends throughout Europe. At the time, the original score was only a basic framework to which musicians added many personal interpretations, including arrangements, improvisations, and embellishments.Academia del Piacere and Fami Alcay have been working for years on this Spanish approach to reviving this spirit through improvisation, and with this album they bring the gushing energy, color, and creative burning music of the Spanish Baroque back to our time.
