The Schlögl Abbey in northern Austria has frequently hosted instrumental concerts featuring solo violinists. The monastery's archives contain numerous "concertos" by a variety of composers, and it is highly likely that great technical and interpretive skill was required of the soloists. Retzbowl, whose encounter with Nikolaus Arnoncourt and Reinhard Goebel led to a deep passion for period instruments and performance, takes us on an exciting journey into an unknown past that would have been played by outstanding virtuosos from the late Baroque to the early Classical era.
