The first Korean winner of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, which has produced world-famous pianists such as Angelisch, Geneusius, and Gugnin, Shin Chang-Yeon's first official album in Korea, "Gaspar at Night". Produced in her home country after her 2018 accomplishment, "Gaspard of the Night," Shin Chang-Yeon depicts a part of the history of piano works and their various landscapes, starting with Bach and continuing through Chopin and Ravel to Granados and then to Debussy. Particularly prominent in this varied program is Ravel's "Gaspard de la Nuit," which is also the title of the album. The graceful and fantastic "water" landscape of "Ondine," the beauty that exists in the emptiness of "The Gallows," and "Scarbo," which expresses with astonishing skill the fairy (or devil) that flies around freely and repeatedly plays tricks, are all of superb quality! This is an album worthy of Shin Chang-yong's illustrious career, and an album that is synonymous with himself. After studying in Korea, Shin Chang-Yeon moved to the United States, where she studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and the Juilliard School under the renowned teacher Robert McDonald. She is known as one of Korea's top pianists with a brilliant record that includes first prizes at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, where she was the first Korean winner, the Seoul International Music Competition, and the Hilton Head International Music Competition.
