Description:

Rachmaninoff," a full-fledged effort by top Korean saxophonist and pioneer Brandon Choi, created a sensation on the country's classical scene and was a major event that reaffirmed the importance of the saxophone in classical music. After its development by Adolphe Sax, the saxophone attracted the attention of French composers such as Richard Strauss, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Puccini, Bartók, Britten, and Gershwin. Rachmaninoff, who came to the U.S. in his later years, assigned the saxophone an important role in his "Symphonic Dances," and it is known that he had long been aware of its existence. The saxophone is a musical instrument that was born in France and flourished in the United States; Rachmaninoff, a musician who spent the rest of his life in the United States after his exile to Paris, France; and Brandon Che, a saxophonist who established his identity as a musician in France and further expanded his musical world in the United States. Che.Brandon Choi says that it was the great impression and shock he received from Rachmaninoff's "Piano Concerto No. 2," which he had the opportunity to hear by chance, that inspired him to pursue a career in music. The encounter between "saxophone," "Rachmaninoff," and "Brandon Choi," all of which share the keywords "France and America," was not a coincidence but an inevitability. The program was centered around the masterpieces "Cello Sonata" and "Vocalise," but also included a saxophone version of "Prayer," Kreisler's arrangement of the second movement of "Piano Concerto No. 2" for violin and piano as an expression of gratitude to Kreisler for having led him down the path of music. The originality of the composition is also outstanding here. This beautiful Rachmaninoff album for saxophone is an expression of gratitude and appreciation to Rachmaninoff, who gave us the dream of becoming a musician and nurtured us. Tokyo M-Plus
