Marc Goujon—one of France’s leading trumpeters today, who serves as Super Soloist (First Principal) of the Orchestre de l’Opéra National de Paris and as a professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris—has finally recorded a collection of Classical-era trumpet concertos! Before becoming a super soloist with the Orchestre de l’Opéra National de Paris, Marc Gojon served as principal trumpeter with the Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine (wind ensemble), the Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de Picardie, the Paris Chamber Orchestra. A devoted user of Silky trumpets, Marc Goujon chose a collection of Classical-era trumpet concertos spanning the late 18th to early 19th centuries for his first solo recording. To these three masterpieces by Haydn, Hummel, and Neruda—considered the bible for trumpet players—Marc Gojon has added the world premiere recording of the Concerto in C major by the contemporary French composer Christian Guangne (1941–). Far from being esoteric contemporary music, this concerto is written in the pure style of Mozart; it is a superb three-movement work performed by a solo trumpet, string orchestra, two oboes, and two horns.
