Description:
Miyako Yoshida, who is about to retire from the company, will perform a pas de deux with Stephen McCrea, who is in the spotlight! Many Japanese dancers will also perform. The Nutcracker, a Christmas classic that has always been loved by audiences, will be performed again this year. This production by Peter Wright, who is well known for his storytelling, is an easy-to-understand work for children. The Nutcracker is played by Miyako Yoshida, in her third production in this role. With her steady technique and loveliness, this is truly a dance that could not be bettered. As the Prince, Stephen McCrea, who has just been promoted to Principal, shows a calm performance that one would not expect from a 23-year-old, and his solid technique gives him the air of a prince. Gary Avis has a strong presence as Drosselmayer, and his nephew, Riccardo Cervera, who is rising in popularity, appears as the Nutcracker.Although Miyako Yoshida's departure is regrettable, Japanese dancers such as Kenta Kura, Hikaru Kobayashi, Yuhi Sai, Ryoichi Hirano, and Akane Takada are active throughout the production, which also shows promise for the Royal Ballet in the future.
