Euridice is once again caught in death because Orfeo has broken the prohibition, and to ease his grief, the gods celebrate Orfeo's birthday feast. Bacchus, who was not invited, becomes enraged and Orfeo is torn apart by his priestesses. Orfeo's soul returns to the underworld and hopes to be reunited with Euridice... Landi, an Italian composer of the early Baroque period, is famous as a pioneer of "opera" along with Monteverdi and Rossi. The Death of Orfeo" is a music drama that stands out for its outlandish plot compared to Monteverdi's "Orfeo," which is based on the same Greek mythology. In this recording, Les Talents Reliques, led by Christophe Lese, supports the excellent singing of the singers and chorus with a clear and elegant sound, and Pierre Audi, the master stage director of the Dutch National Opera for 30 years, has created a unique stage design that sometimes even gives the impression of kitsch in his last performance of the work.
