Kelly Turner is a horn player born in the United States in 1960. She holds a diploma from the Manhattan School of Music, studied under Hermann Baumann at the Stuttgart University of Music and Art, and after graduation became a player in the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, among other international activities. He is also one of the members of the world's leading "American Horn Quartet" and has contributed many works for ensembles as a composer. These quartets are widely appreciated throughout the world. This album features works from a variety of sources, including "A Candle in the Dark," based on the Chinese proverb "It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness," variations on a melody by the French Baroque composer Couperin, and "It was a dark and stormy night," inspired by a short story from England.
