NAXOS' popular series of sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti. This 27th collection includes two pieces from his first sonata collection "Essercizi per gravicembalo" (K.12 and K.15), which incorporate elements of Spanish and Portuguese dance. In addition, Scarlatti's sonatas were once thought to number 555 in all, but recent research has revealed that there are actually nearly 600. The album includes two sonatas in the Bologna museum collection, Sonata in D minor (world premiere recording) and Sonata in G minor, which researcher Kirkpatrick has stated are "considered to be Scarlatti's works. Also included is the Sonata in C major, which was included in a collection compiled by Johann Ulrich Haffner (1711 -1767), a composer and publisher who was a contemporary of Scarlatti, and is full of lively sounds reminiscent of fireworks. The performance is by the award-winning Brazilian pianist Sergio Gallo. Naxos Japan
