The works range from well-known composers such as Piazzolla and Barrios to little-known composers. Nurtured by the unique culture of Venezuelan waltzes, milongas, and chorros, these pieces have a variety of moods, from lyrical and slightly melancholic to lively and rhythmic. The title "Batucada Batucada" refers to the samba style of Brazilian music. Originally played only with percussion instruments, Savio's "Batucada" (track 10), which gives the title to this piece, is a gorgeous piece with lively rhythms. Naxos Japan
