Description:
This is the second collection of orchestral works by Moravian composer Paul (Pavel) Vranitsky. He settled in Vienna in search of opportunities, and was highly regarded as an orchestral conductor and composer. He was friends with Mozart, who was born in the same year, and after Mozart's death, his widow Constanze helped him to publish her late husband's works. Although today his works are overshadowed by Haydn and Beethoven, Vranitsky was considered the most important symphonic writer in Vienna in the late 1790s. This album includes the overture to the opera "Schreiner," which makes full use of the rich sound of the orchestra, and three symphonies, each with a contrasting character. The symphony "Storm" was written more than 10 years before Beethoven's "Rural," but the storm scene with timpani in action is breathtakingly powerful. The compact "Symphony in A major" is representative of his early style, and the "Symphony in F major" is a tour de force that displays a familiar theme and skillful orchestration. Naxos Japan
