Liszt actively arranged his beloved works by Beethoven and Schubert for solo piano, and also performed his own superb technique. This album contains Liszt's arrangements of Schubert's works for solo piano. All of Schubert's works for four hands are highly effective, but Liszt has added various passages to make them even more spectacular. However, "Hungarian Melody" is a little easier to play than Schubert's original arrangement, which is unusual for Liszt. The "Vienna Nocturne" is an arrangement of Schubert's nine waltz-caprices. It was Liszt's own favorite piece, but here is a further arrangement by his prized pupil, Zofie Menter (later married to cellist David Popper). Dominic Kelli was born in St. Louis, USA. He has performed with numerous orchestras in the United States with conductors including James Conlon and Gerard Schwartz, and has given numerous recitals.Among his most acclaimed performances were at Walt Disney Concert Hall under the direction of Walery Gergiev and his 2019 recital at Carnegie Hall.Naxos has a recording of Clementi's "Montferrina Collection and Pieces" (8.573711).
