Description:
This album features three "homage" works by composers of the 21st century for the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth in 2020. Each has a completely different style, making this an interesting piece that explores Beethoven in the modern age. The "Sonata for Orchestra" by Garrett Schumann and Yaniv Segal is an arrangement for orchestra of the Violin Sonata No. 7. Perhaps because of its key of C minor, it is a colorful work full of tension, reminiscent of Symphony No. 5. The "Fidelio Symphony," also arranged by Segal, replaces the sung parts of Beethoven's only opera, "Fidelio," with instruments, and is presented in a compact form of about 30 minutes, allowing one to easily enjoy Beethoven's austere opera. The final work, "Beethoven's Ninth Symphony Remixed," is a remix of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, a work that was created by treating classical works as "material" and creating new works in the way that many 20th century composers have done so in the past.Gabriel Prokofiev, the grandson of the great composer Prokofiev, freely arranged the last movement of the Ninth, and Prokofiev himself sampled and added the chorus parts, and it is hard to contain your excitement at the way something emerges from the chaotic sounds!
