Brazilian-American composer Kurtzman has established an international reputation as an audio engineer and producer, and his genre-bending works have captivated audiences around the world. The three concertos on this album are also delightful works, colored by a sound that has its own unique atmosphere. The "Brazilian Concerto," a flute concerto commissioned by the Austrian Flute Society and soloist Piccinini in 2005; the "Violin Concerto," which features the violin as the main instrument but also includes horn and shofar (an Israeli wind instrument made from ram goat horn) sounds; and the Bassoon Concerto, which adds jazz elements and depicts a scene from "The City That Never Sleeps, New York. The four pieces in the chamber symphony No. 2, which depicts the scenery of "New York City, the city that never sleeps," fully convey Kurtzman's great talent. Naxos Japan
