Weinberg has been getting a lot of attention lately. This album contains all of his flute works. Many of Weinberg's solo works written during the Soviet era were written with a particular player in mind, and most of his flute works were also written for Alexander Korneyev, a master flutist of the time. The earliest work of Weinberg's career is the "Twelve Pieces," later arranged for string orchestra, which was also a favorite of Weinberg's. The "Flute Concerto No. 1" from 1961 consists of a lively first movement reminiscent of Khachaturian, a lyrical second movement, and a flowing third movement. The "Concerto No. 2" is a very lively and lyrical Concerto No. 2" is one of Weinberg's last works. Dedicated to Kornev, it is also written in classical form. The score of the "Five Pieces" has been lost for a long time, but it was recently discovered and is finally being performed. Starting with the first piece, which is a striking quotation from Debussy, the piece is composed of interesting pieces in a free style. Naxos Japan
