The Brazilian music series promoted by Naxos in partnership with the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has become even more active, as the year 2022 marks the bicentennial of Brazil's independence. The latest is a collection of symphonic suites by César Geha-Peixi. Geha-Peixi learned guitar from his father, a Portuguese immigrant and amateur musician, and studied violin at the Conservatorio de Musica. He also composed music for radio and television programs and films. His orchestration skills are highly regarded. The "Symphonic Suite," which combines his skills with elements of Brazilian folk music, is an incomparably enjoyable piece of music with a picture-perfect "Latin groove and rhythm" played by a brisk orchestra. Roda de Amigos" is a tribute to Geha-Peixe's musical friends, a concerto section starring the wind instruments played by each friend. The music in this album is enjoyable without any logic.
