Spohr was a composer active in the first half of the 19th century. In his youth, he was active as a violinist, but when he was given the position of court music director in Gouda in 1805, he gradually shifted to conducting activities, and from the time he was appointed court music director in Kassel in 1822, it seems that he was rarely active as a violinist. However, he played chamber music in the salons of his close friends, and it is likely that this duet was performed at such times. "Three Duets" in WoO 21 was written by Spohr at the age of 12, and boasts a high degree of perfection. The "Three Duets" in Op. 67 is a mature work, with a romantic theme and a well-balanced arrangement of the tones of the two instruments. Naxos Japan
