Domenico Scarlatti wrote 555 sonatas during his lifetime, all for Queen Maria Barbara of Spain. Soon after Maria's birth, her father, the music lover King João V of Portugal, hired Scarlatti as a music teacher, and Scarlatti continued to write exercises for the young Princess Maria, a relationship that did not end when Maria married King Fernando VI of Spain. Maria married King Fernando VI of Spain. Since the early works were written as rehearsals for the young princess, it is said that the technical demands were kept low, but since the autograph manuscript is lost, the official order of composition of the works is not known. Most of the sonatas are in a single movement, and each piece has a diverse character. It is an enjoyable collection not only for the listener but also for the performer. The pianist Eilam Keshet was born in Israel in 1992. He is currently studying at the Academy of Music in Basel, and is a promising talent. Naxos Japan
