Liszt's "Super Exercises" are known as difficult pieces. The title of this collection of works declares that they are difficult, but in fact, like the Paganini Exercises, there are several versions of these pieces. The one we usually hear is called the third draft, which is the final version after many revisions and was published when Liszt was 41 years old. In fact, Liszt first conceived of this exercise when he was 15 years old. It was conceived as "48 exercises for all keys," but in the end, only 12 of them were written and published. Eleven years later, he tried again with the second draft of this collection. The famous Mazeppa (No. 4) has not yet been given a title, and since the goal was to pursue his ideal of pianism rather than to be actually played, there are many parts that make unreasonable demands on the performer, and Schumann called some of the pieces "stormy, terrifying exercises that even Liszt himself cannot play, Some of the pieces are so difficult to play that Schumann called them "stormy, terrifying exercises that even Liszt himself might not be able to play.
